How to Recognize the Signs Your Ex Is Pretending to Be Over You

Though you’ve moved on from your ex, you can’t say the same for them. Are they over you? Here are all the signs your ex is pretending to be over you.

If you see the signs your ex is pretending to be over you, the odds are you’re probably right. You know your ex better than me, so you understand why they do the things they do.

But if you’re still unsure as to why your ex is doing certain things, it’s time you looked at the signs more closely. If you see multiple signs happening in real life, they’re not over you one bit.

We’ve all pretended to be over someone when we’re clearly not. And many of us have done embarrassing things in the meantime.

Recently, I received posts on my social media from my ex of six years ago! He made cruel comments on photos of my partner and me. Why? Well, even though it’s been six years, he still isn’t over me. And while making these comments, he knew he would get a reaction out of me while pretending to have moved on.

Here are the signs to follow to know where your ex falls. Have they really moved on?

#1 They work to get a reaction out of you. They will send you hurtful messages or say things publicly about you or your new relationship. This is all to get a reaction out of you. #2 They talk/ask about you. When you talk to mutual friends, they tell you that your ex has been asking about you and talking about the relationship. It’s like you two haven’t broken up. When someone talks about their ex, it’s clear they haven’t moved on.

#3 They still contact you. They text you and have said that they want a friendship. Come on. You know that isn’t going to work. They contact you like you are still together. They’re not over you. #4 You get drunk texts/calls. In the middle of the night, your phone rings. Guess who? Your ex! They send you drunk texts about your relationship with them and how much they want you.

If this isn’t one of the biggest signs your ex is pretending to be over you, well, I don’t know what is.

#5 They keep bringing up the breakup. When you see them, they’ll bring up your relationship and the breakup in general. Though it’s old news for you, they can’t seem to move past it. #6 You’ve been blocked, deleted, removed… but not entirely. They’ve done everything to remove you from their social media… well, almost. They still keep you on some of their social media. You know, just to creep whenever they feel like it. In other words, they haven’t moved on from you.

#7 They exaggerate their feelings. This is one of those clear signs your ex is pretending to be over you! When they’re around you, they exaggerate how happy they’ve been since you broke up and how everything in their life is so much better. It’s all a lie. #8 They can’t stand your new partner. You have a new partner that you’re happy with, and it drives your ex nuts. They’ll text you rude things about your partner, make comments on your social media, and overall be very negative to the idea of you moving on.

#9 They stalk you on social media. You see they watch all your stories and like all your photos. Whatever you post, wherever you are, they see it all. It’s a little creepy, no? When someone is all over your social media, they haven’t moved on.

#10 They don’t want to give your stuff back. You’ve asked for them to send over your things, but they’ve refused. They want you to come over and get them. #11 They’re hiding their partner from you. You’ve heard through the grapevine that they’ve started to see someone new, but you’ve been noticing that they’re hiding their new partner. There aren’t any pictures online, and if you bump into them together, your ex’s behavior changes.
